Hello - 

My name is Penny, self-taught home cook and founder of Penny’s Primal!

I started Penny’s Primal back in 2018 as a place to share my passion for cooking Whole30 and Paleo friendly recipes. I am a Whole30 Certified Envoy and nothing makes me happier than cooking for my family and friends! So where did it all begin? Well I have been cooking since I was a little girl. I was actually working in a dinette at the age of 10 (owned by my parents best friends) By the time I was 13 I was a short order cook and could handle a knife like a ninja! The passion is real!

I’m married to my best friend, David, chief taste tester and runner to the store when I need that one missing ingredient! We are the proud parents of our beautiful boy Cooper, an Aussie Lab mix that we rescued at 10 months old.

He is my sous chef!

I went from being the girl who always hid in the shadows because I was ashamed of how I looked, to being featured in three magazines! The Woman’s World Special Whole30 issue, First Magazine for Woman where they made ME a cover girl and interviewed me for an article. Then a second article for Woman’s World Magazine where I was on the cover once again!

Why am I so passionate?

My niece introduced me to Whole30 back in 2018 and I never looked back. Whole30 rocked my world in way I could never have imagined. Little did I know the impact it would have on my body, mind and soul! I had tried every diet out there. You name it, I tried it. I was over weight. I was in chronic pain all the time with inflammation in my knees and lower back. I was a type 2 diabetic with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I also suffered with rosacea. When my niece asked me to try Whole30 to help with the pain in my knees I said there is no way I can do this. No dairy, grains, legumes, sugar or alcohol for 30 days. No chocolate, no cheese, no bread? Did I mention no chocolate? It’s not a diet but rather an elimination program to help figure out how foods affect your body. Then I decided what have I got to lose? I was getting 3 injections in each knee every six months just so I could walk! I was taking diabetic, cholesterol and high blood pressure medications. Something had to change. Within a year I lost 80 pounds naturally, reversed my Type II diabetes and was taken off all diabetic meds. My cholesterol and high blood pressure are normal for the first time since I was in my 20’s! The list of NSV’s (non scale victories) is far beyond anything I could have hoped for just from changing my eating to healthy whole foods!
