Welcome to My Kitchen!

I’m Penny, an Adirondack transplant and the founder, culinary creator, and food photographer behind Penny’s Primal. Nothing makes me happier than being in my kitchen, cooking up easy and healthy meals for my family and friends. The recipes I create are Whole30, Paleo, plant-based, gluten-free, and dairy-free—and I know your family will love them just as much as mine!

Hey there, I’m Penny!

I am a self-taught home cook, culinary creator, food photographer and founder of Penny’s Primal!

I started Penny’s Primal back in 2018 as a place to share my passion for cooking healthy and delicious Paleo and Whole30 friendly recipes that use whole foods and nothing processed. My heart is so full when I am cooking for my family and friends and I get to watch them around my table laughing, sharing stories and enjoying a delicious home cooked meal.

So where did it all begin?

Growing up I was fortunate to spend weekends with my grandparents. They owned a butcher shop and later a fish market. I was fascinated watching my grandpa grind meat and my grandma fillet fish. Around their large kitchen table, I watched as my grandmother cooked and loved when she encouraged me to help her. It was definitely the start of my passion for cooking. At the age of ten, I was working in a dinette owned by my parents’ best friends. By the time I was thirteen I was a short order cook and learned how to master the chef’s knife as well as the griddle. My love of cooking continued to grow from here to where I am today!

I am married to my best friend, David, chief taste tester and runner to the store when I need that one missing ingredient stat! We are the proud parents of our beautiful boy Cooper, an Aussie Chocolate Lab mix that we rescued at 10 months old. He is my sous chef!

I went from being that girl who always hid in the shadows because I was ashamed of how I looked, to being featured in three magazines! The Woman’s World Special Whole30 issue, First Magazine for Women where they made ME a cover girl and interviewed me for an article. Then a second article for Woman’s World Magazine where I was on the cover once again!
