Everyone loves a good hoagie but have you ever had a Hoagie Salad? This veggie packed salad has all your favorites like ham, turkey, pepperoni, roasted peppers, pepperoncini, and more! Without the big roll it is healthier and low carb too. The fun part is you can add or take out ingredients to make it just like your favorite hoagie. The Italian dressing has just the right amount of tang you would expect to find on a traditional hoagie. I can’t wait for you to try this Hoagie Salad! If you love salads you might like my Mediterranean Chopped Salad with Grilled Chicken or this Antipasto Pasta Salad.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

Low carb: Imagine all your favorite hoagie flavors in a big bowl without the roll making this the perfect low carb option for lunch or dinner!

No cooking: Is there anything better than a refreshing salad loaded with protein and veggies with no cooking? I think not!

Hearty: Not only is this Hoagie Salad full of protein and veggies, it is hearty and bursting with flavor and it is customizable to your favorite hoagie stuffings!

    Ingredients You Will Need

Romaine lettuce: Romaine lettuce has the best of both worlds having some crispy and tender green leaves all in one head making it perfect for chopping up for most any salad

Green cabbage: Green cabbage, also known as cannonball cabbage, is leafy, crunchy, cheap and nutritious.

Purple cabbage: Whether you enjoy it raw or cooked, this cabbage has a high concentration of antioxidants. It is just so pretty and a favorite of mine for all sorts of salads.

Carrot sticks: Carrot sticks are whole carrots that have been peeled, washed and precut and they bring a delightful sweetness to the dish.

Cherry tomato: These sweet and juicy little flavor bombs brings a burst of freshness to anything you use them in.

Deli turkey: Deli turkey is a pre-cooked poultry. Normally found in the refrigerated section of the grocery store.

Deli ham: Deli ham is a pre-cooked pork product. Normally found in the refrigerated section of the grocery store.

Uncured pepperoni: Uncured means the meat was not preserved using any unnatural or synthetic forms of nitrates or nitrites.

Roasted red pepper: Bell peppers that are roasted until tender and they have a smoky-sweet flavor. You can find roasted red peppers in jars in your grocery store.

Pepperoncini peppers: Pickled pepperoncini are a type of chili pepper that are used as a condiment or garnish.

Red onion: Red onion adds a crunchy texture and bold flavor, elevating salads with its zesty kick.

Extra virgin olive oil: Olive oil stands out as an excellent choice for sautéing, adding richness and enhancing the natural flavors of foods with its versatility.

Red wine vinegar: Red wine vinegar has a distinctive tangy flavor.

Nutritional yeast: Different from regular yeast, nutritional yeast adds a cheesy flavor to dishes without the need for dairy, making it a popular choice in vegan or dairy-free recipes.

Lemon juice: Lemon juice adds a fresh, bright, and tangy element, which can help balance the richness of the other ingredients.

Parsley: Dried parsley is an aromatic herb that adds flavor and fragrance to a wide variety of recipes.

Oregano: Dried oregano is more concentrated and pungent adding a depth of flavor when added to soups and tomato sauces.

Basil: Dried basil offers convenience and potency and is a savory herb that is usually sweet that no soup or tomato sauce should be without

Garlic powder: Are cloves of garlic that have been dehydrated into a powder form. It is best for when you want a milder flavor that will also coat meats easier for sautéing or quickly frying.

Onion powder: Adds a sweet and savory flavor to certain dishes that you can’t get from fresh onions.

Paprika: A mildly flavored spice that adds a depth of flavor to your dish. Unlike smoked paprika, it is a little sweeter.

Salt and pepper: Salt enhances and balances flavors, while ground black pepper adds a gentle heat, improving the overall flavor of a dish.

    Instructions

Make the dressing: Combine all dressing ingredients in a ball jar, shake well and set aside while you prepare the salad

Prepare the salad: Chop your romaine lettuce and place in a large bowl. Finely shred the green and purple cabbage and add to the bowl with the lettuce. Add carrot sticks to the bowl. Slice red onion thinly and add to the bowl. Cut cherry tomatoes in half and add to the bowl.

Prepare the remaining ingredients: Slice ham, turkey, pepperoni, roasted peppers and pepperoncini and add to the bowl.

Dress the salad: Pour the dressing over salad and toss to combine.

    Enjoy!
