    Peach Crumble

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Big, juicy, sweet peaches shine in this Peach Crumble! It's Paleo and refined sugar free and super easy to prepare. The buttery, crunchy topping and fresh fruit filling make it a true summertime peach treat. You may also enjoy these Olive Oil Coconut Lemon Bars as another summertime treat.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

Having only 12 ingredients and 40 minutes to prepare the best-ever summertime dessert, this recipe is a favorite for peach lovers because it includes fresh peach filling and just the right amount of crunch.

    Ingredients You Will Need

Peaches: are a fleshy fruit with a sweet, yellowish or whitish flesh and a thin fuzzy skin, and a single pit, perfect for any peach crumble.

Lemon: adds a fresh, bright, and tangy element, which can help balance the richness of the other ingredients.

Vanilla extract: brings out a rich subtle flavor in foods, both sweet and savory.

Cinnamon: has a warm, sweet flavor and aroma that pairs beautifully with the peaches in the crumble.

Peach fruit spread: is a type of fruit spread, similar to jam or preserves, made primarily from peaches. I love St. Dalfour for all of their fruit spreads as they are refined sugar free and loaded with pieces of fruit, making them ideal for a peach crumble.

Arrowroot powder: (or flour), a versatile thickening agent in recipes, serves as an excellent alternative to cornstarch or flour without impacting the flavor of a dish.

Almond flour: is typically finer and made from blanched almonds, while almond meal is coarser and often includes the almond skins in its preparation.

Maple sugar: is a natural sweetener made by boiling the maple syrup until the water evaporates, leaving behind granulated sugar crystals with a distinct maple flavor.

Ghee: incorporating ghee into this sauce adds a rich, nutty flavor. I love Fourth and Heart ghee and you can use Pennysprimal15It's excellent for ensuring your crumble's butteriness.

Almond slivers: are high in fiber and a number of vitamins. They have an earthy, nutty and slightly floral flavor.

Salt: elevates the overall flavor of any dish. Always salt in moderation in accordance with your dietary preferences.

Nutmeg: adds a distinctive warm, sweet-spicy flavor.

    Instructions

    Preheat oven: to 350˚

In a large bowl: combine sliced peaches, lemon juice, vanilla, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, peach fruit spread, and arrowroot flour and mix well, creating the base for your peach crumble.

Pour into: a 9 X 13 baking dish and press down with a spatula.

In a small bowl: combine almond flour, maple sugar, ghee, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, salt, almonds, and mix till crumbly; this will be your perfect crumble topping.

    Pour: over filling.

Bake: 25-30 minutes till the top is golden and peaches are fork tender.

Sprinkle: extra almonds on top in the last 5 minutes and sprinkle with a pinch of nutmeg if desired.

    Enjoy!

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

Be sure to purchase: large peaches that are ripe and not super firm as the sweeter the better for your crumble!

I like to add the almonds: for added crunch in the crumble; however, if you cannot have nuts just omit them.

    Recipe Variations

Coconut sugar: can be easily swapped for the maple sugar.

Tapioca flour: works great if you do not have arrowroot flour.

Frozen peaches: that are thawed and drained can be used if you cannot get fresh; however, fresh always tastes best in a peach crumble.

    Storage Tips

You can store this Peach Crumble in the refrigerator for 4-5 days when placed in an airtight glass container. I doubt there will be leftovers though!

    FAQs About Peach Crumble

Should you peel the peaches for peach crumble?

This is a matter of personal preference. It is not necessary to peel peaches for a crumble as the skin softens during baking.

How to make sure the crumble isn't soggy?

Don't rub the ghee into the flour too thoroughly. You want your mixture to look a bit lumpy, which helps achieve the ideal crumble texture.

What's the difference between a streusel and a crumble?

Streusel often contains additional ingredients like nuts or oats creating a different texture. Crumble is typically a simpler mixture, ideal for peach crumble lovers.
