    Burger Bowls

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

These Burger Bowls are just so fun, easy and so delicious that you will find yourself wanting them at least once a week! Everyone likes to put their own spin on this dish and mine is in the sauce. Sautéing the onions rather than serving them raw elevates the flavor of the beef. Dill pickles are a must for the full on burger effect! Of course, there is bacon too. The whole family will love this one! I promise! Want to spice it up a bit? Try this Buffalo Chicken Burger Bowl.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

You will feel good knowing your family is getting a bowl full of veggies, with burger bowls loaded with protein. Additionally, these are low in carbs, so they won’t miss the bun!

    Ingredients You Will Need

Ground beef: imparts a hearty flavor and juicy texture that perfectly complements the rich, savory notes of this salad. I like Grass Roots Coop for all of my meats. You can use PENNYP to save 15%.

Onion: yellow onion has a bolder flavor than sweet onions, but you can certainly use sweet if you prefer.

Bacon: is a salt-cured pork product made from various cuts of the pig, usually the belly or less fatty parts of the back.

Romaine lettuce: has the best of both worlds having some crispy and tender green leaves all in one head making it perfect for chopping up for most any salad like this bowl.

Cherry tomato: are sweet and juicy little flavor bombs that bring a burst of freshness to anything you use them in.

Dill pickle slices and juice: are small cucumbers that have been preserved in vinegar flavored with dill.

Avocado oil mayonnaise: offers a unique creamy texture and a healthier fat profile.

Ketchup: unsweetened ketchup allows the true sweetness from the tomatoes to shine through.

Coconut aminos: is a gluten-free and soy-free alternative to traditional soy sauce. It brings a rich umami flavor and a subtle saltiness and sweetness to a dish, including burger bowls.

Salt: elevates the overall flavor of any dish. Always salt in moderation in accordance with your dietary preferences.

Red pepper flakes: are made from a mix of peppers from the capsicum annum family. They bring a little heat to the dish, so you can adjust the amount according to your heat preferences.

Onion flakes: comes in two forms, flakes and minced. It is made by dehydrating fresh chopped white onions, perfect for adding flavor to burger bowls.

    Instructions

Combine: all of the sauce ingredients in a bowl, whisk well, and set aside.

Cook the bacon: in a skillet till crispy and move to a paper towel-lined bowl. *DO NOT* discard the drippings.

Add the onion: to the pan and cook till just browning and move to a plate lined with paper towels.

Cook the beef: in the same pan until browned and remove from heat.

Meanwhile: chop the lettuce, slice the tomatoes, and divide evenly into four burger bowls.

Divide: the beef, onions, bacon, and pickles evenly over the four lettuce bowls.

Pour the sauce: over the salad.

    Enjoy!

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

Cooking the onions: elevates their savory flavor but you can certainly add them raw if that's what you prefer.

Cook the bacon ahead of time: if you are having bacon over the weekend for breakfast make extra and save both the bacon and the drippings for when you want to make these bowls! Saves time the day of.

    Recipe Variations

Ground chicken or turkey: is just as delicious in place of the ground beef, turning ordinary salad into tasty burger bowls.

Fries: are a delicious addition to enhance your bowls!
