    Chunky Bleu Cheese Dressing

    Would you believe me if I told you this chunky bleu cheese dressing takes 5 minutes to make and is better than anything store bought?  I know it is hard to believe but it's true!  Not only is it so easy to make but it is so much healthier than store bought!  David absolutely loves bleu cheese dressing. I was so tired of trying to find a clean ingredient list on the store bought ones that I finally made my own.  He said "You nailed it."  Best testimonial was him eating it by the spoonful.  I cannot wait for you to try it too! Try it with my Buffalo Wings or Turkey Buffalo Meatballs for dipping sauce!

    Takes minutes to make: This chunky bleu cheese dressing literally takes less than 10 minutes from start to table. It could not be any easier to get a fresh and delicious dressing to have with your favorite salad. Try it to dip those buffalo wings in!

    No funky ingredients you cannot pronounce: I was tired of reading labels at the grocery store trying to find a healthier version of bleu cheese dressing. It is David's favorite and he literally could eat it by the spoonful. Enter my chunky blue cheese dressing with ingredients you can pronounce. Except for the bleu cheese, it is actually dairy free!

    Ingredients You Will Need

    Bleu Cheese: Bleu cheese is a wide range of cheeses made with the addition of cultures of edible molds. This creates bluish green spots or veins through the cheese. Today the natural mold is refined and used for almost all bleu cheeses. I prefer a good Stilton or Roquefort for extra tang and flavor but any bleu cheese will do.

    Avocado Oil Mayonnaise: Avocado oil mayonnaise offers a unique creamy texture and a healthier fat profile.

    Dairy Free Yogurt or Sour Cream Alternative: Both are plant-based options with a creamy texture and tangy taste. They provide a delicious substitute for traditional yogurt or sour cream.

    Cashew Milk: Cashew milk is a nondairy milk made from whole cashews and water. It has a creamy, rich consistency and is loaded with vitamins, minerals and healthy fats. It can replace cow's milk in most recipes.

    White Vinegar: White vinegar is a solution typically consisting of 4-7% acetic acid and 93-96% water. It is most commonly made via the fermentation of grain alcohol.

    Coconut aminos: A gluten free and soy-free alternative to traditional soy sauce. Coconut aminos bring a rich umami flavor and a subtle saltiness and sweetness to a dish.

    Garlic Powder: Using garlic powder over minced garlic is best in this recipe. It easily dissipates into the sauce for a better overall texture.

    Onion Powder: Adds a sweet and savory flavor to certain dishes that you can’t get from fresh onions.

    Salt and Pepper: The flavor of a dish is enhanced by salt, which elevates various flavor profiles. Ground black pepper also adds a gentle heat.

    Instructions

    Crumble your blue cheese: If you did not purchase pre crumbled bleu cheese, cut a piece off and chop with knife. You can leave it as chunky or fine as you like.

    In a glass jar: Add all ingredients to a mason jar or a glass jar with a tight fitting lid.

    Cover jar with lid: Shake it like you mean it!

    Try different types of bleu cheese: There are different types of bleu cheese. I encourage you to try them all to find the perfect one that you and your family will love. Stilton, Roquefort, Gorgonzola or Cabrales are some different choices for you.

    Cashew Milk: If you are not concerned with dairy free milk, any milk will work in this recipe.

    Dairy Free Sour Cream Alternative: Like the cashew milk, if you are not concerned with dairy free, any sour cream will work.

    Storage Tips

    To store the Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing, place it in a glass jar or ball jar that has a tight fitting lid to help preserve it. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

    Why did my blue cheese dressing get runny?

    As bleu cheese dressing sits the water in the sour cream can begin to separate. This is natural and just shake it really well before spooning it onto your salad or using for dipping.

    What is the blue stuff in blue cheese dressing?

    It is Penicillium, a type of mold that is responsible for it's unique taste, smell and appearance. Unlike other molds, penicillium does not produce toxins and is perectly safe to consume.

    Can I freeze blue cheese?

    If you have leftover bleu cheese you can freeze it in a sealable bag for use at another time.

    • ½ cup Bleu Cheese Crumbles I used Stilton blue cheese
