Transform that leftover Thanksgiving turkey into the most flavorful dill pickle turkey salad that comes together in about 15 minutes! It's dill-lightfully delicious! No turkey left? You can make this with chicken too! If you love dilly recipes try this Dill Pickle Potato Salad!

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

This dill pickle turkey salad has the perfect combination of savory turkey, tangy pickles, creamy dressing, and crunchy celery! The best part is it takes about 15 minutes to make and is the best way to use up all that leftover turkey from Thanksgiving!

    Ingredients You Will Need

Turkey: is a popular poultry dish that is often enjoyed during holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love Grass Roots Coop for all of my meat purchases. You can use PENNYP to save.

Onions: yellow onion has a bolder flavor than sweet onions but you can certainly use sweet if you prefer.

Celery: is a nutrient rich, low calorie food and adds a delightful crunch to this salad.

Dill pickles: are small cucumbers that have been preserved in vinegar flavored with dill.

Pickle juice: from any jarred pickles.

Avocado mayonnaise: offers a unique creamy texture and a healthier fat profile.

Dill: is herby, light and refreshing flavor with a slightly sweet with element of parsley, celery and anise.

Black pepper: adds a mild level of heat to your food it is known as the "King of Spice" due to all of the health benefits for our bodies.

    Instructions

Prepare the ingredients: by shredding or dicing the turkey, dicing the onion, celery, pickles and dill.

In a large bowl: mix the mayonnaise, pickle juice, dill, salt and pepper.

Add the turkey: onion, celery, and pickles and mix thoroughly to coat all of the turkey meat with the mayonnaise mixture.

    Enjoy!

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

Before adding salt: make the dill pickle turkey salad and taste it as the pickles and pickle juice make it salty and you may not want extra.

Use white meat turkey: as it soaks up the dressing better than dark meat will.

    Recipe Variations

Use chicken: so you don’t have to wait for Thanksgiving leftovers!

Dried dill: can be used if you don’t have fresh on hand. Use 1 teaspoon of dried.

Mayonnaise: can be used if you are not concerned about keeping this recipe Paleo or Whole30 friendly.

    Storage Tips

You can store this dill pickle turkey salad in the refrigerator for 5 days when placed in an airtight glass container.

FAQs About Dill Pickle Turkey Salad

What pairs well with dill pickle turkey salad?

Fresh vegetables like cucumber, bell pepper or tomatoes make perfect sides for this salad.

Can I freeze dill pickle turkey salad?

The mayo-based dressing will likely become watery upon thawing, so its best to freeze the turkey on its own and add the remaining ingredients before serving.
