    Steak and Shrimp Kabobs

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

These Steak and Shrimp Kabobs are a family favorite here. The best part is they only take 6-8 minutes on the grill to cook. They then get slathered in the most amazing Garlic & Herb Ghee sauce! Yes please! Let's just say you will need to double this one. David and I ate it all. The shrimp are so tender and sweet. The steak comes out a perfect medium rare. If you like it more well done you can cook the steak on skewers separately from the shrimp. Leave them on a bit longer. This is the perfect dish to enjoy all summer long! You may also enjoy this delicious Mongolian Ground Beef Noodle recipe made on the grill.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

Fifteen minute dinner: Who doesn't love a dinner that can be on the table in 15 minutes? Especially during the work week when things can be so hectic.

Grilling: Being able to toss these skewers loaded with protein on the grill is great. Knowing your family will not only love them but they are getting a healthy dose of protein. The skewers also provide healthy fats from the delicious sauce.

    Ingredients You Will Need

Shrimp: Shrimp are a crustacean that is very nutritious and fairly low in calories. They provide a high amount of protein and healthy fats. They also provide vitamins and minerals. Shrimp have a sweet and succulent mild flavor.

Sirloin Steak Tips: are usually grilled and seared off and meant to served medium rare like most steaks. They are a better cut of steak which I prefer so it comes out nice and tender.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Extra virgin olive oil stands out as an excellent choice for sautéing. It adds richness and enhances the natural flavors of foods with its versatility.

Salt and Pepper: The flavor of a dish is enhanced by salt. It elevates various flavor profiles. Ground black pepper adds a gentle heat.

Ghee: Incorporating ghee into this sauce adds a rich, nutty flavor. Ghee is clarified, meaning impurities have been removed. This results in a pure and clear form of butterfat with lower lactose content than butter. This ghee is my favorite. You can use PennysPrimal15 for a discount!

Garlic: Fresh is best for obtaining a little stronger touch of garlic flavor. This is different than the sweeter touch you would obtain from powder.

Lemon Juice: Lemon juice adds a fresh, bright, and tangy element. This can help balance the richness of the other ingredients.

Basil: Opt for fresh basil over dried for this recipe. The freshness complements the other bright flavors in this sauce and adds a nice aroma.

Flat Leaf Parsley: Parsley brings a burst of fresh, herby goodness to sauces. It gives them a nice lift and adds a bit of vibrant flavor.

Oregano: Fresh oregano has a spicy and pungent flavor similar to marjoram but not as sweet. It is considered a very bold herb and using it will make a dramatic impact in any recipe.

    Instructions

Melt ghee: In a small pan melt the ghee.

Add garlic: Add your minced garlic and stir one minute & remove from heat.

Add remaining Garlic & Herb Ghee ingredients: Add remaining sauce ingredients stirring well. Set aside.

In another bowl: In a separate bowl, add shrimp, steak, olive oil, salt and pepper, mixing well.

Skewer shrimp and steak: Skewer shrimp & steak. If using wood skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes first so they do not burn on the grill.

Cook on preheated grill: Once the grill is heated, add the skewers. Turn them every 2 minutes for a total of 6-8 minutes depending on how you like your steak. (6 minutes should result in medium rare steak)

Move to a plate: Place the skewers on large plate and brush generously with sauce.

Save that extra sauce: The extra sauce is wonderful for dipping!

    Enjoy!

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

Like your steak more well done: You can skewer the beef separately from the shrimp. Put it on the grill (or skillet) first and cook to your preferred temperature.

Double this recipe: If you have hearty eaters you will want to double this recipe as it goes pretty fast.

Have leftovers: If you are lucky enough to have leftovers, it makes an amazing salad for lunch the next day!

    Recipe Variations

Scallops: You can easily swap scallops for the shrimp or use both.

Steak Tips: Almost any steak will work with this recipe. I have used rib eye, cut up in pieces and it was amazing.

Herbs: The fresh herbs in this recipe really make this sauce pop. Feel free to use herbs that you love. Not a fan of oregano, try rosemary. Play around and find your perfect blend.

    Storage Tips

Steak and Shrimp Kabobs can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days when placed in a sealed airtight glass container.
